The chairs and table in the collection Sauherad is made in oak or ash. Wyller has used old fashioned handicraft and all natural materials.
- I like the challenge of trying to create a new look out of something which is considered an old fashioned method, says the designer.
The idea behind Sauherad is low tech. Wyller works with independent production, which he thinks has a lot of personality and creates a greater diversity of expressions. There is also a underlying deep ecology concept. The products have a retro look, and the design process is based on values which no longer matter in our consumer culture. Wyller has tried to encourage longevity by using materials which have the ability to develop a patina over time, and by shaping it into a subtle expression which fits into a longer paradigm of style rather than short term fashion trends.
