13.11.2010 — Perforated aluminium

The Aluchair was designed by Jacques Ferrier for the French Pavillon at the Shanghai World Expo. The indoor/outdoor chair employs a combination of resistant materials such as aluminium and stainless steel for its base and injected plastic for its perforated shell. The structure, including rear foot, is in laser-cut aluminium, with front foot in shaped stainless steel, all finished in satin-finish mastic, argile or 'el'ephant lacquer. The perforated detailing on the shell brings a degree of flexibility which optimises the comfort on offer, and enables the rain to drain away when used outside.
