
Sigga Heimis has her mind set on simplicity and timeless design. With a background in Italian design, one of the main qualities that she appreciates is quality of products in design and material. She believes that true sustainability is acquired in the use of quality materials and good design that stands the test of time as well as to be useful and necessary.
She is an industrial designer that graduated from IED and Domus in Milan, Italy. After her studies she opened up her studio in Iceland and started free-lancing for Ikea in Sweden and other companies; local and foreign. In 2000 she moved to Sweden and took on a position as an in-house designer at the headquarters of Ikea in Sweden.
After 8 years at Ikea she left to become a design manager at Fritz Hansen in Denmark. In late year 2009 she reopened her studio that she runs today; Studio Sigga Heimis. She operates from both Sweden and Iceland as most of her clients are outside Iceland, but has her base in Reykjavik, Iceland.
