25.01.2012 — One Bloor sales centre

One Bloors sales centre in Toronto, Canada, designed by Cecconi Simone, encompasses a total environment. It presents the distinctive ambiance of One Bloor, by developer Great Gulf Homes, to a sophisticated target audience via innovative construction, technology and materials.
Conceived as a space-within-a-space in an area of 223 m^2, the sales centres successive galleries are created from a suspended grid and a framework of moulded aluminum, which mimics the curvilinear forms of the future residential tower. Most fixtures, finishes and technologies are secured to these structures, leaving the existing envelope largely untouched. The entire fabrication can be assembled and disassembled quickly, with resulting efficiencies.
The sales centres sculpted interior architecture guides visitors from gallery to gallery where the story of the proposed hi-rise builds steadily, from titillating opening glimpses to a stirring, final reveal. The narrative begins in the striking reception area, defined by curved partitions and a bowed dropped-ceiling, both executed in white faux-leather panels. A custom, organic, embossed-leather sofa and biomorphic, spun-metal support columns are placed within these activated surface planes, portending the unique contours of the future residence.
The bend in the partitions, sliced through with intriguing reveals; the arc of the lighting trough in the dropped-ceiling; and the rhythm of metal insets in the epoxy flooring combine to pull visitors into the successive galleries.
The transitional Suite Plan Projection Gallery is executed in black as a foil to the preceding, white reception space. Partitions of black, back-painted glass panels in velour finish glimmer with snippets of information about the planned condo suites from a series of embedded iPads, enticing visitors forward to the Model Display Gallery.
Here, the full picture of the future hi-rise is uncovered at last, with the impressive architectural model serving as focal point, complemented by the expansive Closing & Finishes Table, clad in metallic glass mosaic. Additional, strategically-positioned spun-metal support columns draw the eye to the subsequent Common Areas & Amenities Interactive Gallery with Virtual Wall.
This gallery brings the proposed condominium to life with greatest flourish. A mere sweep of the arm before the interactive Virtual Wall, with leading-edge custom Gestpoint technology, produces panoramic views from the future building, as well as renderings of its exterior, amenities and residential suites to near-life scale. In the glass mosaic-clad seating area opposite, a ground-breaking GestureFX interactive virtual pond further evokes the undulating sensuality of the upcoming tower.
